It was a bonanza weekend of rugby on Turnberry Beach as the 3rd annual Turnberry Beach Rugby Festival drew hundreds to the picturesque setting to enjoy top-class sport, food, sunshine and family fun. The glorious sunshine splitting the sky provided perfect conditions for Beach Rugby, the Men’s section was won by the invitational Bill McLaren Foundation Team and the Ladies section won by Hillhead Jordanhill for the very impressive 3rd successive year.
The organisers were delighted with the success of the event, and are keen to support worthy causes around the world with the fruits of their labours. 3 projects will be benefitting from TBR 2014, The Bill McLaren Foundation, Girvan Academy and Ayr U18’s South Africa Rugby Trip. Co-founder AJ McFarlane, said: “TBR looks to support causes that will benefit local people as well as the similarly-minded rugby community. We see the links made in the community vital to the continued growth and fully appreciate all the local support. We were thrilled to see so many come down to the beach to enjoy the festival, we can’t wait to get our teeth into organising next year’s event, which will be bigger and better than ever before!”
